West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day

Second Saturday in May – next one May 8, 2010 – presented by West Seattle Blog

How to register, and how it works

Updated April 2009

This is not one big sale – this is YOUR sale, and dozens of other sales, all over West Seattle on the same day.

Last year (2008), more than 145 sales were registered – this year, for the 5th annual West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day, the sky’s the limit!

Everybody who signs up to be part of West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day 2009 (same fees as last year: $12 individual, $20 organization/school/business, $30 block sale, except for the one-day-only in-person discount as explained below) will benefit from the advertising and promotion of the big day – with maps available online and at various West Seattle locations, signs, coverage on West Seattle Blog and elsewhere, plus a description of your sale as part of the map. We advertise not just in West Seattle, but beyond, first to get word out about WSCGSD registration, then to get word out about the sale itself.

Registration is available two ways:

–Online (go here for the special online form – and please be sure to follow up with the PayPal payment transaction, via credit card or PP account, afterward – end result will be a confirmation from us that you’ve registered AND a receipt from PayPal that you’ve paid)

–Postal mail (print out the form you’ll find here and mail it with a check, or pick up a form at: Hotwire Coffee, Illusions Hair Design, Stor-More Self-Storage, and Brunette Mix — and two Seattle Public Library branches, West Seattle (Admiral) and Southwest (35th/Henderson).

We will again draw people to West Seattle from throughout the city – and beyond! – on West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day, and your sale has a better chance of getting noticed as part of the fun. Again this year, we also plan contests — most unusual item, best sign, etc.

First and foremost, this is a community-building event. Our main site, West Seattle Blog, is all about community — bringing people together online and in person, to share information and opinions with each other, to complement and add to the 24/7 news we report — and we hope this event will help you find great deals, sell your stuff if you’re having a sale, and meet more fellow West Seattleites!
